MILLER ó Helen Hrdlicka, 93, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 at Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Annís Catholic Church in Miller, with Chester Murtha officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a 7 p.m. prayer service at St. Annís Catholic Church. Burial will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery.
Helen Chytka was born Jan. 26, 1919, to Emil and Rose (Petrik) Chytka in Wagner. She attended school through the eighth grade.
On Aug. 23, 1955, she married Lawrence T. Hrdlicka in Luverne, Minn. She worked as a cook at Lips Cafť in Miller for 23 years before retiring at the age of 79. She loved cooking and gardening, as well as raising chickens, picking geese and milking cows.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence, of Miller; nine children, Jean (Lloyd) Myears of Green Ridge, Mo., Ed (Shirley) Sell of Miller, Larry (Donna) Sell of Redfield, Sharon (Jim) Davis of Rockham, Shirley (Robert) Peterman of Miller, Robert Sell of St. Lawrence, Linda (Rich) Clark of Gettysburg, Tina (Bob) Danielson of Miller and Diane (Tim) Goetz of Miller; two sisters, Rose (Henry) Prien of Tripp and Emily Vandemheen of Florida; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and one step-brother.
