SAFETY HARBOR, Fla. — George L. Loudenslager, 75, of Brewster, Minn., died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at his winter home in Florida.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Beach United Methodist Church, Howard, with burial and military honors to follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday at noon with a prayer service at 7p.m. at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.
George Luther Loudenslager was born July 6, 1937, in Waynesboro, Miss., to Joseph and Myrtle (Miles) Loudenslager. He lived in Mississippi for 10 years before his family relocated to Howard. He graduated from Howard High School in 1955. On Aug. 3, 1956, he married Vesta Lusk. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell and graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls. He taught in Brewster, Minn., and then was superintendant until he retired in 1997. He was in the S.D. Army National Guard and Army Reserve for 37 years from 1954 to 1991. He served as a Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Vesta of Brewster, Minn.; four sons: Todd (Maggie) of Eden Prairie, Minn., Kelly (Jill) of Sioux Falls, Kerry (Doreen) of Edmond, Okla., Brent (Amy) of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Heidi Meyer of Sioux Falls, and Joi (Mark) Hasz of Menno; a brother, Joe (Ann) Loudenslager of Oldsmar, Fla.; and 15 grandchildren.
