RAPID CITY — Marvin Douglas Schumacher, 60, of Rapid City, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Fort Meade V.A. Medical Center.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church in Rapid City with the Rev. Eric Grinager officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, with VFW Post 1273 and the S.D. Army National Guard performing military honors. Marvin Douglas Schumacher was born April 8, 1952, in Onida to E. Fern (Svenson) and Marvin Melvin Schumacher. He served in the Army in Germany, during the Vietnam era, from March 1970 to January 1972. He was a member of Sully Post 79 American Legion, the United Methodist Church in Agar, and the Masonic Lodge in Onida. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his mother, E. Fern (Svenson) Schumacher of Hot Springs; his sister, Vixie Miller (Dennis) of Rapid City; three brothers, Fredrick Schumacher (Sun Cha) of Lacey, Wash., Ladd Schumacher of Glenrock, Wyo. and Bud Schumacher (Merrett) of Sheridan, Wyo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Melvin Schumacher who died on the same day 13 years ago; his sister-in-law Jeannine Schumacher (Ladd) and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.For the complete article see the 01-30-2013 issue.
