HURON — The Spearfish Lady Spartans pulled away in the second half for a 57-43 victory against the Huron Tigers on Friday at Huron Arena.

Spearfish, which improved to 11-2, outscored Huron 15-8 in the second quarter for a 24-19 lead at the half, but a majority of the damage was done in the third quarter.

The Lady Spartans racked up 23 points during the eight-minute span, while Huron managed just 15 to carry a 47-34 victory into the final quarter.

Bethany Crosswait and Kaitlyn Hinch finished with 12 points each to lead Spearfish.

The Tigers, who struggled to get things going offensively, put just one player in double figures. Katelyn Allerdings finished with 10 points, while Brittany Steffen converted on a trio of 3-pointers for nine points.

Jazmin Newton pulled down six rebounds to help Huron to a 34-26 advantage on the boards. However, 22 turnovers played a role in spelling doom for the Tigers.

Both teams return to action today.

Huron, which is now 2-13, will host Sturgis at 1:45 p.m. at Huron Arena. Spearfish travels to face Mitchell at the Corn Palace.
