REDFIELD — Gail Andersen, 90, of Miller, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Her memorial service and Eastern Star rites will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller.
A second memorial will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield.
Gail Lucille Mathews was born Nov. 7, 1922, to Robert and Mae (Butler) Mathews in Miller. In 1940, she was nominated homecoming queen, and graduated in 1941. She went to Commercial College to learn stenography for one year. From 1943 to 1947 she worked for the Army intelligence during World War II.
She married Charley Thom Andersen on Dec. 12, 1943, in Washington, D.C. They returned to Miller in 1946.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon, and several other offices. She was a 60-year member of the Eastern Star and the Women’s Marine Corp Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thom, on Dec. 16, 2010; and two sisters, Hope Michalson and Ruth Mathews.
Memorials can be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Miller.
