HURON — Greater Huron Development Corporation is seeking nominations for the Mayor’s Award for Excellence to be presented at the joint GHDC and Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau annual meeting March 21 in the Plains ballroom.
GHDC sponsors the award to recognize outstanding contributions by a business or individual to the economic development of the Huron community.
The award is based on ongoing community and economic development contributions in a variety of areas. Contributions must be shown in arts and culture, amateur sports, education, voluntary community groups, economic development and other areas that provide positive impact on the city.
“Recipients of this award portray those qualities that encourage a contribution of time, volunteerism and financial commitment to our region’s future for development and overall quality of life,” said Jim Borszich, GHDC executive director.
“Their contributions, as well as that of their employees, have promoted a healthy business climate making Huron a great community to live and do business,” he said.
Past recipients of the award include NorthWestern Energy, Farmers and Merchants Bank, Coldwell Banker Action Realty, Tschetter & Hohm Clinic, Huron University, Dr. Michael Fuchs, Prostrollo Motor Sales, Huron Regional Medical Center, Wells Fargo Bank, Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, Red Wilk Construction, Dakota Family Dentistry, the South Dakota State Fair, Dakota Promotions, Carr Chiropractic and Dakota Provisions.
