Tigers defeat Yankton to avenge earlier loss

YANKTON — After allowing Yankton to collect its first win of the season during an earlier meeting at Huron Arena, the Huron Tigers returned the favor by defeating the Bucks on their home court on Friday.

Huron pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 53-43 victory.

Justine Decker led three players in double figures for the Tigers, with 14 points. He also had a team-high six rebounds.

Also reaching double figures for Huron were Lucas Morrison and Will Carr with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Adam Zwanziger shared the rebounding honors with Decker, with six boards.

Yankton recorded a 71-48 victory against Huron in the junior varsity game.

Hayden Busch led the Tigers with 11 points. Trey Moeding and Tate Sporrer each added eight points, while Kaison Thies had six points.

Tre Henderson had five rebounds for Huron.

Yankton also escaped with a 59-53 victory against the Huron sophomores.

Mason Stahly led the Tigers with 15 points and seven rebounds. Thies had 11 points, while Carter Brotherton and Moeding each had 10 points.

The Huron boys will return to action today against Brandon Valley as part of a doubleheader at Huron Arena. The varsity boys’ game as been moved to a 5 p.m. start.
