HIGHMORE — Betty Phillips, 76, of Highmore, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Highmore, with the Rev. Peggy Stempson officiating. Burial will be in the Highmore Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, all at the church.
Betty B. Bobbit was born Aug. 10, 1936, to Willie and Virginia (Walker) Bobbitt at Sandy Level, Va.
On Dec. 20, 1958, she married Dale Phillips in Emporia, Va. After his retirement from the Army in 1971, they moved to Highmore. They owned and operated an upholstery shop, and later she ran the Frosty Freeze. She worked for the Hyde County School District for 22 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and was involved with the Boy Scouts for 20 years. She was also awarded the Bob Thingelstad Award for her service to the community.
She is survived by her children, David Wayne Phillips of Castlewood, and Patricia Dawn Miller (special friend, Scott) of St. Cloud, Minn.; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Phillips; and her parents.
