HURON — Ronald “Ron” Wiand, 70, of Huron, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. At his request, he was cremated, and there will be no service. Burial will be at the Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis. Ronald Eugene Wiand was born March 30, 1942, to Carl Allen and Ida (Tschetter) Wiand at Huron. On Dec. 29, 1965, he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on June 12, 1968. After the Navy, he began his trucking career working for Asphalt Paving and Materials, HEYL Truck Lines, Midwest Coast and Parkhurst Trucking.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, other outdoor activities and watching NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Karen, in infancy.
He is survived by his son, Paris Wiand of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Nikki Korkow, of Huron, and Connie DeJean of Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Randy (Yarda) Wiand of Haywarden, Iowa, a half-brother, Mark (Kelly) Wiand of Minneapolis, Minn.; two step-brothers, Howard (Joan) Nelson of Omaha, Neb. and Steven Rice of Huron; five step-sisters, Jean Lyons of Huron, Lauren (Johnny) Reynolds of Green Bay, Wis., Idella Bawdon of Huron, Lois (Dave) Deming of Huron and Lisa (Dave) Lentz of Huron.
