Sanborn Central-Woonsocket defeats Lady Warbirds to give McCain 250th win

HURON — Sanborn Central-Woonsocket head coach picked up his 250th career victory Tuesday night as the Lady Blackhawks defeated the Wolsey-Wessington Lady Warbirds, 80-24 in the District 5B semifinals at Huron Arena.

The victory advances the Blackhawks (20-1) to Thursday’s championship game against James Valley Christian (11-9) at 7 p.m. Thursday night at Huron Arena.

The Blackhawks jumped out to a 22-4 first quarter lead eventually building to a 50-point lead before finishing with the 56-point victory.

Rachelle Moore led the Lady Blackhawks in scoring with 18 points followed by Marissa Weber who had 15, Shelby Selland had 14 and Myah Selland finished with 10.

For Wolsey-Wessington Ashley Eggleston had seven points while Meagan Eggleston had five and both Brittany Berquist and Cydnee Davis each had four.

Weber also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, while Rachelle Moore had eight assists and eight steals. For the Lady Warbirds, Berquist grabbed five rebounds, while Kallie Carey had three steals.
