Woman killed in crash with snowplow

ROCKHAM – A 39-year-old Redfield woman has died of injuries suffered in a Feb. 14 crash on Highway 212 four miles west of Rockham, authorities said.

Jewel D. Wheeler was driving a 1992 Chevrolet C1500 pickup truck westbound when she lost control on the ice and entered the eastbound lane. Her vehicle struck a state Department of Transportation snowplow, a 2011 International driven by Jerry Kopecky, 59, of Faulkton.

Wheeler was taken to a Faulkton hospital and then transferred to a Fargo hospital where she died Thursday.

Kopecky was not injured.

The Highway Patrol is investigating. Assisting at the scene were the Faulk County Sheriff’s office, Faulk County Fire and Rescue and Faulk County Ambulance.
