HURON — Two of the top teams in Class B will meet today in the District 9B championship game, which begins at 7 p.m. at Huron Arena.

It will be the third meeting of the season between top-seeded James Valley Christian and second-seeded Wolsey-Wessington.

The Vikings opened the season with 17 straight wins and spent much of the year as the No. 2-ranked team in Class B. JVC would end the regular season with an 18-2 record, which included a 66-58 victory against Wolsey-Wessington in the championship game of the 281 Conference Tournament.

The Warbirds won their first nine games before suffering the setback in the conference tournament. They rebounded from the loss with a 10-0 run, which included a 62-57 victory against James Valley Christian during the final game of the regular season to clinch the regular season title in the 281 Conference.

The same two teams met for the district title a year ago, with the Vikings pulling out the victory.

The winner of tonight’s game will earn a berth in the Region 5B championship game, which is scheduled for Tuesday at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
