Leonard Pevestorf, son of William and Dora (Bassler) Pevestorf, was born on Feb. 29, 1920, on the family farm near Coon Rapids, Iowa, in Green County. As a small child he moved with his family to Princeton, Minn., where he attended country school through the eighth grade.

Following his formal education he continued to live and work on the family farm and help out area farmers. He later moved to Iowa to help his family pick corn.

On Sept. 1, 1945, Leonard married Joyce Johnson in Cambridge, Minn. They lived and farmed in the Cambridge area until 1948 when they moved to a farm near Alpena. One year later they moved to a farm north of Huron where they farmed until 1962. At that time they purchased a farm one mile further east, near the Jim River. Leonard and Joyce lived there until moving into Huron in 2007.

Leonard was a member of American Lutheran Church, NFO and Moose Lodge. Leonard’s pride and joy was his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes, and trapping. Even though his livelihood was the farm, it was also his hobby. His heart was always at the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Huron; one daughter, Barb (Tony) Kludt of Miller; two grandsons, Kory (Jenilee) Kludt of Sioux Falls, and Kip (Kimberly) Kludt of Brookings; four great grandchildren, Brittany Kludt, Jordan Kludt, Carson Kludt and Jayde Kludt; two sisters-in-law, Betty Pevestorf of Omaha, Neb., and Carol Pevestorf of Huron; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Howard Pevestorf, Ronald Pevestorf, Floyd Pevestorf, Harold Pevestorf, and Earl Pevestorf; one sister-in-law, Annie Pevestorf; and one nephew, Duane Pevestorf.

Paid obituary.
