REE HEIGHTS — Vince Lumby, 81, of Ree Heights, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Avera Oahe Manor in Gettysburg.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller. Burial will follow at Morningside Cemetery in Ree Heights with military honors.

Vincent Edward Lumby was born Dec. 8, 1931, at Sanburn, Iowa, to Henry and Lydia (Walton) Lumby. He lived in California and then moved to Wessington. He joined the Army in 1953 and was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. After serving in the Korean War, he returned to the Miller/Ree Heights area.
He married Loranda Melhoff of Miller on Feb. 26, 1953. He worked for Tri-State Insulation for many years, as well as TCI. After retirement, he moved to Ree Heights. He enjoyed horseback riding, playing the guitar and singing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Loranda; his children, Gloria (Ray) Heuer of Pierre, Linda (Ed) Welch of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Gene (Freda) Lumby of Pierre; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
