HURON — If you’re looking to change up your workout routine, or would like to experience a fat-burning workout that will kick-start your metabolism, you need to get over to the Nordby Center For Recreation and sign up for the “Bust It Boot Camp.”

“Bust It Boot Camp” is a twice-weekly program on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Nordby Center Gym. It starts on Tuesday, March 19 and will run for six weeks, until April 25. For price information, call the Nordby Center for Recreation at 352-2627.

Nordby Center Assistant Director Chris Haberling said that the boot camp is open to all fitness levels. “This is a great way for people to learn from personal trainers some different exercises and techniques to build flexibility and strengthen your core,” he said. “We are going to have fun in a group setting burning calories. This type of workout really gets the metabolism going.”

Haberling said he and Nordby Center Director Shelly Buddenhagen will be coaching the boot camp.

“We are inviting people of all fitness levels,” he said. “And the boot camp will address many areas of fitness. We will start with a warm up and do some strengthening exercises using dumbbells and kettle bells; we are also going to work on flexibility with medicine balls,” he said. “Another thing we are doing at the ‘Bust It Boot Camp,’ is using a rope system to do some cardio work and other exercises designed to strengthen the core.”

Haberling says the 45-minute workout will be adaptable to all fitness levels. “Anyone is welcome to come, it is open to all fitness levels and we can adapt many of our moves and stretches to fit anybody.”

All participants that finish 75 percent or more of the workouts will receive a “Bust It Boot Camp” t-shirt. To sign up, visit the front desk at the Nordby Center or call 352-2627.
