BOONE, Iowa — Lois Cecelia Boyd, 99, of Boone, Iowa, and formerly of Huron, died March 6, 2013, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone. A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Terry Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens in Huron. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity School in Huron or the Wolsey-Wessington School Library. Lois Cecelia McGuire was born May 1, 1913, in Wessington to James and Ellen (Foley) McGuire. She graduated from high school in Wessington and graduated from Northern Teacher College in Aberdeen in 1963.
On Feb. 20, 1937, she married Glenn Boyd in Denver, Colo. She worked as a school teacher and retired from teaching in 1978. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron. She was active in the Altar Society in Wolsey and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Extension Clubs and an RSVP volunteer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, two brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Jim (Delphae) Boyd of Denton, Texas, and Mike (Charlotte) Boyd of Centennial, Colo.; two daughters: Ardis (Ted) Clinkenbeard of Boone, and Glenna (Dave) Rand of Springfield, Va.; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.For the complete article see the 03-13-2013 issue.
