HURON — The memorial wall will be just part of the enhancement program for the memorial located at 3rd Street and Wisconsin Avenue Southwest in Huron. Along with the memorial wall we plan to add seven full-size statues, two flag poles and two small marble tablets.
For veterans or their families to have the veterans’ names put on bricks to be placed on a memorial wall, located at the Beadle County Veterans Memorial, there is a reduced cost before Sunday, March 31, 2013. A form to fill out and send to purchase a brick with a veteran’s name can be found on Page 14 of the Saturday March 9 edition (the back page).
Those in charge of the block purchases ask that all Beadle County residents share this information with the families of veterans so that each family gets a chance to participate.
It is open to all Beadle County veterans and families in the area of Alpena, Hitchcock, Huron, Iroquos, Wessington, Wolsey and Virgil along with all veterans groups including area American Legion posts, Veterans of Freign Wars, 40 et 8, Marine Corps League, S.D. National Gaurd and Navy Wives Club of America.
Any individuals, businesses, corporations or other service clubs are more than welcome to donate to the enhancement of the veterans memorial. If anyone or any group would like a presentation or have any questions please contact either Keith Schrader at 352-4893 or Mark Davis at 354-5238.For the complete article see the 03-13-2013 issue.
