Iroquois native chosen to assist in neurological research

Posted: Thursday, Mar 21st, 2013

Leah Wienbar was recently chosen to participate in the South Dakota BRIN (Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network) program this summer. Her mentor will be Dr. Lee Baugh, professor of Biomedical Sciences at USD. Wienbar will assist in neurological research.

Only a select number of students are chosen to participate in BRIN. Applicants are evaluated on their GPA, letters of recommendation, and a strong personal interest in a research or biomedical career.

Wienbar, a junior biology student at Dakota Wesleyan University, also works in the TRIO Learning Lab as a trained tutor.

Leah is a 2010 Iroquois High School graduate. She is the daughter of Brad and Mary Wienbar of Iroquois, and granddaughter of Roy and Donna Wade of De Smet and Les Wienbar of Redfield.
