Chamber and GHDC honors three at annual meeting

SEAN M.X.KELLEY/PLAINSMAN Outgoing Huron Mayor David McGirr receives the Distinguished Civic Service Award presented by last year's recipient Rhonda Kludt. The recognition was part of the Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau's joint annual meeting with Greater Huron Development Corporation held Thursday evening in the Plains ballroom.

HURON — The Huron Chamber and Visitors Bureau along with Greater Huron Development Corporation held their annual meeting Thursday night in the Plains ballroom.

After introducing outgoing and incoming members of the board and a meal three awards were handed out to recognize the special efforts in the community.

The family Wayne and Jeni Hofer were honored with the Family Business Award for their business at A-1 Auto Body Inc.

The second award given out was the Distinguished Civil Service Award given to outgoing Huron Mayor David McGirr.

The final award given was the Mayor’s Award for Excellence which went to American Bank & Trust.

Patrick McGaughey, an international business speaker gave the keynote address to close out the night’s festivities.
