REE HEIGHTS — George Engelmann, 90, of Ree Heights, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. A prayer service will be 6 p.m. Friday, at Rembold Funeral Home with visitation after the prayer service. Burial will be at the Morningside Cemetery in Ree Heights.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1923, in his family home on their farm in Ohio township south of Miller. He and his family survived through the Great Depression after his father died. He continued to work on the farm after high school graduation.
He married Leona Fawcett on June 20, 1948, at Ree Heights Church. After Leona died in 1987, he married Beth Kelsey on December 29, 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Kelsey; brother, Paul (Alice) Engelmann; children, Melita (Phil) Wiedenman, Connie (Bob) Templeton, Chris (John) Niederauer, Gary (Kathy) Engelmann, and Lori (David) Fremark; son-in-law Randy Bertsch, 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona, daughter, Rene Bertsch, brother, John Engelmann, and sister Sylvia Eisenbraun.
