ARLINGTON — Pauline M. Selken, 88 of Arlington, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Southridge Health Care Center in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington with the Rev. Fred Rosin officiating. Burial will be in the Bangor Lutheran Cemetery at rural Arlington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Johnson-Henry Funeral Home in Arlington and prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Pauline Gahl Selken was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Custer to Paul Reinholt and Margaret Katherine (Roetzel) Gahl. She graduated from Wolsey High School. She graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Harley Arnold Selken July 1, 1946, and they moved to Arlington in 1950 to farm. She worked at the Arlington Care Center.
She is survived by a sister, Ella May Gahl Wilson of Belen, N.M.; seven children Katherine (Ray) Causton of Rolling Hills, Wyo., Judy Berdahl of St. Paul, Minn., Royal (JoAnn) Selken of Humboldt, Steven (Peggy) Selken of Sioux Falls, Mark (Jan) Selken of White, Linda (Doug) Kott of Brookings, and Jon (Julie) Selken of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harley; one son Joel Warren Selken; and three brothers, Herbert Gahl, Gerald Gahl and Walter Gahl.For the complete article see the 03-31-2013 issue.
