HURON — Arlene Elaine Sheffield, 82, of Huron, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron with burial at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery in Huron. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron.
Arlene Elaine Kraft was born on April 30, 1930, to Emanuel and Mamie (Christensen) Kraft in Wessington Springs. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School, and later from Northwest College of Commerce with an Associate of Arts Degree in Business.
On Dec. 24, 1949, she married LuVerne Sheffield in Wessington Springs. She worked as a bookkeeper for Johnson West and Company and the Huron Public Schools.
She was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Huron. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, listening to music and following the Minnesota Twins baseball games.
She is survived by her son, Daryl (Diana) Sheffield of Hilliard, Ohio; three daughters, Dr. Lynette Sheffield and Janice Wiersma, both of Huron, and Carla (Bruce) Micheel of rural Cavour; two brothers, Donald (Stella) Kraft and Lloyd (Margaret) Kraft, both of Wessington Springs; sister, Wanda (Mike) Estergard of Belle Fourche; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LuVerne, in 2005; sister, Thelma Joy Kraft; brother, Garfield Kraft; sister-in-law Shirley Kraft; and son-in-law Lee Wiersma.For the complete article see the 04-06-2013 issue.
