HURON The Huron Police Department is hosting a 16-hour Fire Dispatch class put on by PowerPhone.

The class contains updated content created to empower dispatchers to confidently and rapidly assess emergency situations, and safely send responders at the right priority with the right information. The class also teaches dispatchers to help protect the callers and victims.

The training approach is centered on ensuring the practical application of proven real world skills every time a dispatcher picks up the phone. The training includes incident critiques and call simulation.

In support of National Public Safety Telecommunicators week PowerPhone bought the students lunch.

The class is being instructed by Mike Dougherty from Michigan. Dougherty is a retired firefighter who spent more than 20 years as a firefighter and dispatcher.
