Jean Gard, 92, of Miller

MILLER ó Jean Gard, 92, of Miller, died Monday, April 22, at the Good Samaritan Society in Miller. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Miller with the Rev. Brian Jones officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, all at Rembold Funeral Home. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery.

Jean Ravenscroft was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Vayland, to Arvey and Clara (Brown) Ravenscroft. She grew up in Vayland, working in the family store with her parents and four sisters. She graduated from Wessington High School in 1939. After granduating from high school, she moved to Miller and worked at J.W. Johnsons.

On March 16, 1943, she married Robert Gard.

She is survived by her children, David (Ginger) Gard of Canton, Sally (Duane) Resel of Miller, Clair (Carmen) Gard of Canton; 12 grandchildren, Stephan (Lori) Resel, Stephanie (Boney) Bonebright, Sarah Resel, Heather (Todd) Johnson, Rich (Gretchen) Lundstrom, April (Brad) Klarenbeek, Whitney Gard, Amy (Shane) Bertsch, Jodi (Trevor) Ekle, Bob (Erin) Gard, Derek Gard, Brett Gard; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters, Dorothy Stobbs, Velda Welbes, Eunice Siegling and Elaine Fritzsche.

Rembold Funeral Home of St. Lawrence has been entrusted with Jeanís arrangements.
