LENNOX — William Reimer, 91, of Lennox, and formerly of Wessington Springs and Huron, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Center at Lennox. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with the Rev. Sara Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Huron Veterans Council conducting military rites. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
William Reimer, Jr., was born Aug. 16, 1921, to William and Rosina (Meyers) Reimer, Sr., at Wessington Springs. He graduated high school in Wessington Springs, joined the army, and was later honorably discharged.
On Oct. 1, 1954, he married Verna Mae Thompson at Pierre. He then worked for Armour and Company for 26 years. On Nov. 11, 1989, he married Joyce Radke Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Verna, in 1985, and Joyce, in 2012; eight brothers, Rueban, Ted, Art, Ernest, Daniel, Milton, Leonard and Bennie; four sisters, Eldora, Elsie, Doris and Elena; and two sons-in-law, Donnie Sondreal and David Buckley.
He is survived by his two daughters, Shirley (Bob Rosier) Buckley of Sioux Falls, Bonnie Sondreal of Thompson, N.D.; three sons, Gary (Barb) Reimer of Sturgis, Glenn (Toni) Reimer of Sturgis and Darwin (Brenda) Reimer of Gillette, Wyo.; five step-sons, Jack Thompson of Huron, David Thompson of Huron, Duane Thompson of Minnesota, Gerald Thompson of Iowa and Dallas Thompson of Ind.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Alvina Rasmussen of Placerville, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.For the complete article see the 04-25-2013 issue.
