LAKE PRESTON — Betty Wienk, 79 of Lake Preston, died Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Lake Preston United Church of Christ with the Rev Steve C. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Lake Preston Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the church, and prior to the service on Monday.
Funeral arrangements were announced by Johnson Henry Funeral Home in Lake Preston.
Betty Lewallen was born March 5, 1934, to Verlus (Ferguson) and Marvin (Joe) Lewallen in Manchester. She graduated from De Smet High School 1951.
She married Lester Wienk Oct. 23 1951. She worked as the Lake Preston High School secretary from 1981 until her retirement in 1998. She was a active member of the Lake Preston UCC women’s fellowship, American Legion Auxiliary, Lake Henry Birthday Club and a local card club.
She is survived by her husband, Lester, of Lake Preston; her children, Thomas (Janet) Wienk of Omaha, Neb., Charles (Brenda) Wienk of Lake Preston, Gene Wienk of Lake Preston, Connie (Steve) Hamsa of Brandon, Terri (Brian) Helms of Sherwood, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Wienk of Bath; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Pat Lewallen; a son, Wayne; and a grandson.
