WORTHINGTON, Minn. — Ella Mae Sall, 98, of Worthington, Minn., died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minn.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, Minn., with the Rev. Jonah Beckermann officiating. Burial will be in a private service at the Worthington Cemetery.Visitation will be on Thursday, May 2, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minn.
She was born Feb. 27, 1915, and was adopted as an infant by parents, Eric and Bella Pladson Olson. She graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1933 and attended Principia College.
She said her childhood was reasonably happy, but after her marriage she experienced true happiness. She married Kenneth Sall on Oct. 3, 1936, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Worthington and had five children.
She belonged to Westminster Presbyterian Church, P.E.O Chapter BT, Order of Eastern Star, Round Table Club, and many bridge clubs. She was a member of the Peace Pipe Girl Scout Council, Girl Scouts of America and was a member of the first Girl Scout troop in Worthington. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years and served on the board of the Y.M.C.A.
She is survived by a son, Rodney Sall, of Roseville, Minn.; daughters, Becky (Sam) Casper, of Huron and Starr (Lon) Standafer of Worthington; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
