SIOUX FALLS — Janet Sue Oestreich, 61, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Huron, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Huron, with burial at a later date at Broadland Cemetery. Her visitation with the family present will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Welter Funeral Home in Huron; or one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Janet Sue Burns was born to Robert E. and Phyllis (Smoyer) Burns on Sep. 6, 1951, in Huron. She graduated from Huron High School in 1969. She attended the College of Professional Business in Minneapolis, Minn., and received a degree as a medical technician.
She married Rudy Oestreich on March 8, 1974, in Huron. She worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 30 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Rudy, of Sioux Falls; daughter, Maggie (Justin Johnson) Le Grand of Sioux Falls; son, Justin (Crystal) Oestreich also of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Marsha (“Freddy”) Coil of Huron, and Mary (Gary) Hillberg of Huron; brother-in-law, Kenny Oestreich of Highmore; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wilcox of Huron, Elaine (Harvey) Schrader of Bowdell, Carol (Frank Meyers) Swearingen of Huron; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lynn Kay Burns, in infancy; and niece, Tonya Coil.
