HURON — Jack Links presented Huron High School Principal Demi Moon with a $7,500 check and Huron Music Parents member Diane Brandsrud with a $2,500 check Thursday at the Wendelgass track meet.

Demi Moon said the donated funds will be used to replace the gym mats in the high school’s gym and to purchase ellipticals that will be used primarily for students undergoing physical therapy.

“All students can use the elliptical machines but they will aid students going through rehab,” said Moon. “That’s why we chose to have the presentation here at a track meet as the donation will fund extracurricular activities.”

Diane Brandsrud has led efforts to replace the 15-year-old marching band trailer used to store and transport students’ instruments and gear when traveling to competitions. “The donation will be put toward reaching our goal of getting a new marching band trailer,” said Brandsrud.

The company of Jack Links has a history of giving back to the communities of their employees with donations aimed to improve academics and activities in schools. The company has a facility located in nearby Alpena, which serves as one of the largest employers in the area.
