MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — John Lewis Jensen died June 6, 2013.
Services took place on Tuesday at Lutheran Church of Peace in Maplewood, Minn. with burial at Fort Snelling.
John Lewis Jensen was born March 9, 1922, on a farm in Aurora County to Clifford and Nellie (Heggen) Jensen. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Civil Engineering. He entered the Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Ensign.
He married Barbara Henningsgaard in 1947. He worked for the Pollock Stockton Shipbuilding Co. in the Philippines and Hawaii for about two years, and then worked for St. Paul Union Depot Co. and the Minn. Transfer Railway Co. He was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years and past president of both the Midway Civic Club of St. Paul and the Northwest Maintenance of Way Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lloyd; two infant sisters; and daughter-in-law, Emory.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barb; children, Eloise (Douglas) Griffith, Gail (Dennis) Gremel, Philip, Clifford, Roger (Cheryl); sisters, Marian (Andy) Andersen and Ardis Grace; brothers, Willis (Diane) Jensen, Bob (Ruth) Jensen and Leslie (Mary Louise) Jensen; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
