HURON — Florence Albertha McMillan Batien, 91, of Huron, formerly of Willow Lake, died June 10, 2013, at the Huron Regional Hospital.
Florence Albertha McMillan was born on Dec. 25, 1921, to Otto and Christina (Iverson) McMillan at her grandparents’ farm in Southeast Spink County. She was the oldest of eight children.
She married Floyd Batien on Jan. 3, 1941.
She was a member of the Congregational Church at Willow Lake, American Legion, Senior Citizens of Willow Lake and Auxiliary Life Time Member. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and tatting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; son, Jerry Batien and brothers Charles and Lyle McMillan.
She is survived by her three sons, Roger (Susan) Batien of Watertown, Roland (Delores) Batien of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Lloyd (Sheryl) Batien of Wolsey; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene (Lois) McMillan of Huron, Irwin McMillan of North Carolina, Keith (Shirley) McMillan of Huron; two sisters, Ruby Johannsen of Huron and Vivian (Don) Dische of Ill.; sister-in-law, Genevive McMillan of Huron and several nieces and nephews.For the complete article see the 06-25-2013 issue.
