CANTON-BELOIT — Virgie Lee Gardner, 76, formerly of the Canton-Beloit area, died Sunday, June 16, at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Virgie Lee Teeslink was born May 1, 1937 in Platte to Jim and Eva (Enstad) Teeslink. She attended high school in Canton.
She married Leo Gardner on Aug. 12, 1955, in Canton.
She owned and operated Virgie’s Cafe` in Fairview, Newton Hills Drive-In, the Green Spade and a restaurant in Canton. She was a caretaker for the elderly in Lennox, Eagle Butte, Worthing and Huron.
She enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing both cards and dice.
She is survived by her sons, Ray Gardner, of Inwood, Terry (Becky) Gardner, of Yankton; daughters, Brenda (Keith) Gilbertson, of Canton and Lori Gardner (LeRoy Anderson) of Perham, Minn., Lisa (Mark) Sanow, Huron, and Sara Gardner, Inwood; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters- Lu (Blaine) Olson, Hudson and Shirley Detmer, Minneapolis, Minn.; and brothers-Danny (Dawn) Teeslink, Sioux Falls and Kevin Teeslink, Simpsonville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane McCarty; brother, George Teeslink; sons, James and Leon Gardner, and two great-granchildren.For the complete article see the 06-26-2013 issue.
