More than 100 compete in Ravine Lake Triathlon

HURON More than 100 athletes competed in six different categories during the Ravine Lake Triathlon, which was held Saturday in Huron.

Kevin Mitchell of Sioux Falls was the overall winner, clocking a time of one hour, 1 minute and 54 seconds in the sprint triathlon, which included 52 entries. Dan Linde of Rapid City was second at 1:05.07, followed by Michael Loewen of Huron at 1:05.58.

Rounding out the top five in the sprint event were Jay Gibson of Beaufort, S.C., with a time of 1:06.24 and Robert Remmers of Missoula, Mont., at 1:07.17.

In the Clydesdale division, it was Mike Kane of Huron turning in a winning time of 1:16.28. Gerad Puterbaugh of Cavour was second at 1:24.33, followed by Josh Skovlund of Huron at 1:29.57.

The Athena division was won by Rebecca Anderson of Sioux Falls at 1:29.21. Heather Linde of Rapid City was second at 1:31.49, followed by Jennifer Hodges of Pierre at 1:39.07.

The EnTri division, which was for triathlon beginners was won by Tyler Kleinsasser of Huron at 36:17. Holly Beck of De Smet was second at :36.39, followed by Joshua Muehlbauer of Huron at :40.13.

Hayden Kane of Huron claimed top honors in the youth triathlon at :31.06, while Karlee Richman of Huron was second at :44.27 and Jordyn Cutshaw of Huron was third at :44.42.

Triple Threat of Huron won the three-person team sprint triathlon with a time of 1:12.35.

HRMC used a time of 1:28.07 to win the Corporate Cup Challenge, which included five teams. Team members for HRMC were Marcia Zwanziger, Pat Erickson and Brittany Rotert. Farm Credit Services of America was second at 1:30.50, followed by American Bank & Trust at 1:40.57.
