BUTTE, Mont. — Floyd Fredrick Johnston, 73, of Butte, Mont., died on July 13, 2013.
Floyd Fredrick Johnston was born on Oct. 15, 1939, to Tom and Ester Johnston in a cabin in Grand Lake, Colo.
He attended CSU in Ft Collins to study engineering. He later passed the Engineering in Training exam and earned his Professional Engineering Certification in Safety Engineering.
He married Carole Reed in 1960 in Loveland, Colo. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation while living in Grand Junction, Collbran, and Montrose, Colo. He continued his career with the Bureau as a safety officer in Huron, and then with the Western Area Power Administration in Billings, Mont. He shifted into construction engineering and moved back to Huron while Carole completed her bachelor’s degree.
He enjoyed learning, building, repairing and working on any type of project.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carole; his three children, Laurie (Wayne), Rhonda (Joe) and Todd (Ann); and five grandchildren .
