BRYANT — Carolyn R. (Christman) Staudy, 70, of Bryant, died on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bryant, with the Revs. Sue Grinde and Fred Rosin officiating. Burial will be at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m., also at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Bryant.
Carolyn Rae Christman was born on June 2, 1943, to Harlon and Mildred (Jensen) Christman in Watertown. She graduated from Hayti High School and Northern State Teacher’s College in Aberdeen. She taught school in Warner.
She married Frank A. Staudy on June 21, 1975, at New Hope Lutheran Church, rural Hayti, prior to residing in rural Bryant.
She enjoyed gardening, being outside and playing cards. She also frequently did puzzles while observing livestock on the farm.
She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran church. She worked on the weekly bulletin and played the organ. She was also a member of the Bryant American Legion Post 37 Auxiliary.
She was survived by her two children, Lynda (Timothy) Taylor and Fred Staudy; two sisters, Sharon (Noble) Freden of Denver, Colo. and Deanna (Robert) Frantz of rural Bryant; and two sisters-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Anne, and her husband, Frank.For the complete article see the 08-09-2013 issue.
