SIOUX FALLS — Betty Eidem, 89, of Sioux Falls, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor, Sioux Falls.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls, with her family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visit www.heritagesfsd.com.
Betty Bernice Carroll was born Dec. 24, 1923, at Elk Point, to E. Wade and Dessa (Summers) Carroll. After graduating from Elk Point High School she attended Nettleton College.
On Aug. 27, 1948, she married James D. Eidem at Elk Point. In 1954 they moved near Hurley. She was business manager for the school in Hurley for 23 years, retiring in 1987. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1990. She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Hurley for 35 years, Hurley American Legion Auxilary, and was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed dancing.
She is survived by three children, Janice Farrar of Huron, JoAnn (Greg) Gemar of Scotland, and Wes (Linda) of Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; four brothers, Forrest, Earl, Bill and Max; and a sister, Retha.
