Betty Burmeister, 68, of De Smet

PIERRE — Betty Burmeister, 68, died on Aug.12, 2013, at home, surrounded by her family after a long illness.

Betty Jean Schilling was born May 24, 1945, to Richard and Elizabeth (Jones) Schilling in Pierre. She grew up in Capa and Midland and graduated from Philip High School in May of 1963. In July of 1963, she married Roger Dean Frazier. He died in January of 1978.

In October of 1978 she married Jerry Dale Burmeister in Pierre. They lived in Wasta, Pierre, Wolsey and Huron. In November of 2006 they bought the J and B Mobile Home court in De Smet.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of De Smet; two sons, Darrell Frazier (fiancé Sheryl Peterson) of Aberdeen, James (Mellissa) Burmeister of Manchester; two daughters, Debra (Cliff) Martin of Huron and Darla (Joey) Collins of De Smet; a daughter-in-law, Amanda Frazier of De Smet; an ex-daughter-in-law, Dana Huehl of Gettysburg; 13 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Josh Martin, Abigail, Stephanie, Brittany, Tiffany and Caroline Frazier, Mark Burmeister, Katlyn Collins, Kasey and Kyle Burmeister, Kathleen Frey, Makayla Peterson; and two brothers, Albert R. (Shirley) Schilling of Casper, Wyo. and William Schilling of Le Mars, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy (Edward) Doud of Fort Pierre and Margaret (Rodney) Frazier of Pierre; two brothers-in-law; four great-grandsons, Domanic and Taevien Frazier, Jonathon Schladweiler and JC Titus; several nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; grandparents; two sisters, Ethel Sowards and Barbara Thrun; a granddaughter, Destiny Jean Burmeister-Ransom and a great-grandson, Gabriel Frost; five nephews and both sets of in-laws.

There will be no services held. Her cremated remains will be disposed of at a later date with only the family present. Any cards or donations to help the family can be sent to: Jerry Burmeister, PO Box 71, De Smet, S.D. 57231.
