GANN VALLEY — Connie E. Timmerman, 69, of Gann Valley, died Wednesday morning Aug. 14, 2013, at the Weskota Manor/Avera Health from a battle with colon cancer that began in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gann Valley Fire Hall with the Rev. Glen Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the Springs Hill Cemetery at Gann Valley. Friends may call at the Basham Funeral Home in Wessington Springs Friday from 5 to 7 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. In order to honor Connie and her battle with colon cancer, the family requests that you wear something blue.
Connie Elaine Sinkie was born on Jan. 3, 1944, to Byron and Juanita (Janes) Sinkie in Miller. She graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1962.
On Sept. 22, 1962, she married Ralph A. Timmerman. She was an active member of the Pleasant Valley Church and a 4-H leader.
She was a member and leader of many organizations and 4-H extension, such as the Auxiliary, Horticulture, Extension Clubs and Cemetery Board.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ralph, of Gann Valley; three daughters, Ronda (Mike) Brunsen of Wessington Springs, Carla (Russ) McGregor of Watertown; and Dawn (Brad) Peterson of Miller; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Juanita Sinkie of Wessington Springs; two brothers, Henry Joe (Sheila) Sinkie of Hills City, and George (Barb) Sinkie of Mitchell; aunts, Lois Sinkie, Irene, Lenora and Arline Janes; an uncle John Janes; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bryon; uncles, Carl Sinkie, Ken, Willis and Curtis Janes; and grandparents.For the complete article see the 08-16-2013 issue.
