MADISON — Doris E. Freese, 80, died Wed., Aug. 14, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Society, Howard.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ramona, with burial in the church cemetery. The family will be present for visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Friday evening with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Ellsworth Funeral Home, Madison.
Doris Elaine Bau was born April 11, 1933, in the family home in rural Manchester to Harry and Anna (Gehm) Bau.
She attended rural grade school and graduated from DeSmet High School in 1951. She worked at the county extension office in DeSmet.
She married Harold Freese on Nov. 24, 1953, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Ramona. They farmed north of Winfred. Their farm was noted as a South Dakota Century Farm.
She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2009; an infant brother; two sisters, Mary Grothe and Alice Palmlund; and one brother, Harry Bau.
She is survived by two sons, Tim of Winfred and Steve (Julie) of Norfolk, Neb.; three daughters, Donna (Lonald) Langle of Emery, Brenda (Charlie) Mower of Hot Springs and Myrna Sue Freese of Chamberlain; seven grandchildren; ten great -grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Fischer of Salem, and Carol (Danny) Haaland of Gary; one brother, Robert (Linda) Bau of Northglenn, Colo.; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Bau of Madison and Rose Grothe of DeSmet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
