HURON — Huron Federal Employees recognized the 12th anniversary of Sept. 11, “Patriot Day,” by inviting all the employees for a “Flag Raising Ceremony” in front of the Huron Federal Building at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

While members of the National Guard HHC 153rd Engineering raised the U.S. flag, everyone was invited to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

Bev Helm welcomed everyone, reflecting upon the events that occurred 12 years ago and how this date serves as a reminder of our support for our flag and country. The group also sang “Pledge of Allegiance.”

All were invited to join in singing “God Bless America,” followed by a minute of silence to reflect upon the spirit of this day. The ceremony concluded with the song, “God Bless the USA.” Following the ceremony, “Patriotic Muffins” and commemorative memorial cards were distrbuted. The program was sponsored by the Huron Interagency Federal Employees Program Council (FEPC).
