HITCHCOCK — Chase Bixler passed for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead Hitchcock-Tulare to a 60-22 victory against Ipswich in their season opener on Friday.
Bixler, who completed 14 of 25 passes for 167 yards, had scoring strikes of 28 yards to Boston Knippling, 16 yards to Trent Hofer and 15 yards to Cole Chaplin. He also had a 1-yard touchdown run.
Chaplin also carried the ball into the end zone on runs of 35, 64 and three yards for the Patriots. Knippling had the other touchdown on a 10-yard run.
Chaplin finished with 200 of Hitchcock-Tulare’s 360 yards rushing in the game on 23 carries. Bixler carried the ball 17 times for 78 yards.
Trent Hofer was the leading receiver for the Patriots with five catches for 83 yards. Knippling grabbed three passes for 43 yards.
Defensively, Eli Hofer led the way for the Patriots with seven tackles. Chaplin had six tackles while Cooper Gordon had five tackles and a sack. Grayson Binger recovered a pair of fumbles and Clay Martin had an interception.
Dustin Northrop had a pair of touchdown passes for Ipswich, which is now 0-2. He connected with Phil Beck on touchdown throws of 70 and 15 yards.
Alex Marsh used an 89-yard run to score the other touchdown for the Tigers.
Marsh finished with 178 yards on 22 carries. Northrop was 5 of 13 passing for 107 yards, which included three passes to Beck for 87 yards.
Cassius Pond recorded seven tackles for Ipswich, while Beck had seven tackles.
Hitchcock-Tulare will travel to play Langford Area on Friday.
