MITCHELL — The Huron Tiger golf tied for the 11th at the Lakeview Golf Course Friday afternoon.
The Tigers were led by Cole Peterson who shot a 79, six shots back of Tommy Vining of Sioux Falls Lincoln who finished with 73, one-shot better than a trio of golfers who shot 74.
Huron’s J.P. Noonan carded an 81 to finish in a seven-way tie for 33rd place.
Colin Claeys finished just another shot back tied with four golfers for 40th after putting together a round of 82.
Riley Goeller had the next lowest round for the Tigers as he shot 86 which tied him for 55th place.
He was followed by Nolan Wiegel who shot a 91 to finished tied for 89th while Brandon Haber was tied for 11th with a score of 104.
Sioux Falls O’Gorman won the Mitchell Invitational with a score of 301, three shots better than Sioux Falls Lincoln.
They were followed by the Eastern South Dakota Conference’s Yankton who was third (311) and Brandon Valley who was fourth (317).
The Tigers shot 328 as a team.
The Tigers will travel to their final regular season invitational Monday at Watertown.
That will be followed by the ESD meet Saturday, Sept. 28 at Pierre and then the state meet Oct. 7-8 in Brandon.
Tigers finish tied for 11th at Brookings
BROOKINGS — The Huron Tigers finished 11th at the Brookings Invitational held at Brookings Country Club last Saturday as they shot 345 as a team.
The best round by a Tiger was turned in by J.P. Noonan who shot an 84 10-shots back of Max Donohue of Sioux Falls O’Gorman who posted a 72.
Noonan’s score was good enough for a tie for 32nd place.
Cole Peterson and Nolan Wiegel each finished with rounds of 86 to be part of a five-way tie for 39th place.
Colin Claeys finished tied for 51st after shooting a 89.
Riley Goeller shot a 92 to finish tied for 60th place and Brandon Haber finished tied for 81st with a round of 111.
