Marion Dubro, 92, of Huron, formerly of rural Iroquois

HURON — Marion Dubro, 92, of Huron, formerly of rural Iroquois, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois, preceded by private burial in the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Welter Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

Marion Herman Dubro, son of Paul and Anna (Lorenz) Dubro, was born on January 21, 1921, in rural Harrold. In 1936, he moved to the Esmond area where he attended country school. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Iroquois.

On May 28, 1947, Marion married Margery Metter. In 1949, the couple moved to rural Iroquois where Marion and Margery farmed.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; and past member of Belle Prairie Township Weed Board of Directors.

In addition to farming being his occupation, it also was his hobby. When not engaged in farming, Marion could be found working on equipment and anything else that needed fixing. He had a great love for any vehicle that had four wheels. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and nature’s wildlife.

He is survived by his wife, Margery, of rural Iroquois; four children, Stanley (Judy) Dubro of rural Iroquois, Karen (Gene) Halsey of Huron, Kathy Kasperson of Huron, and Wayne (Patti) Dubro of rural Iroquois; nine grandchildren, Chad (Angel) Dubro, Julie (Andy) Boomsma, Ashley (Jeremy) Jungemann, Travis (Rachel) Halsey, Alex Kasperson and friend Megan, Austin Kasperson and friend Chasidy, Amanda Halsey, Kris Halsey, and Darci (Rob) Shutterman; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norman (Mary) Dubro of Delta, Utah and Ronald (Darlene) Dubro of Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister-in-law, Charlene Dubro of Midwest City, Okla.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lauretta Dubro; a brother, Marvin Dubro; and a sister, Mildred (James) Erickson.
