HOWARD ó Thelma Haak, 91, of Howard, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the Howard Good Samaritan Society in Howard.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Howard with the Rev. Paul Pater officiating. Burial will be in St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery, Howard. Visitation will be Friday starting at 9 a.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Howard.
Thelma Doris Hall was born Oct. 2, 1922, on a farmstead south of Roswell to William and Essie (Mathers) Hall. She graduated from Argonne High School in 1940. After graduation, she was hired to work at the Quinn Department Store in Howard as a cashier and bookkeeper. She later worked as the bookkeeper for the Coop Creamery in Howard.
On February 21, 1945, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Howard, she married Raymond Haak. In 1981 she began an upholstery shop in the basement of her home. She continued this until she was 87 years old.
She was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church and was active in Sunday school and the evening womenís guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond; a grandchild; eight brothers; and two sisters.
She was survived by her two sons, Craig (Deb) of Canova; Merlyn (Deb) of Plankinton; two daughters, Lesa (Randy) Feldhaus of Howard and Gina (Terry) Dikoff of Spearfish; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Arlene Hall of Howard.
