REDFIELD — Roger H. Hekrdle, 76, of Redfield, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
His funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Redfield with military rites. Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Thelen Funeral Home.
Roger Hekrdle was born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Redfield, to Henry and Lillian (Zeigler) Hekrdle. He graduated from Redfield High School in 1954 and attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He was studying to be an electrical engineer when he was inducted into the Army. After his discharge in 1961, he returned to the family farm. He farmed and raised livestock with his brother Ronald northeast of Redfield.
He enjoyed driving around checking his crops and livestock.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald Hekrdle of Redfield; his nieces and nephews, Tarara Hekrdle of Estelline and her son, Ty; Tam (Kris) Kolar of Canyon Creek, Mont. and their children, Cade and Jase; Brett and Brad Hekrdle of Redfield; and Nona (Tyrone) Schenk of Maplewood, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
