Evelyn Hegdahl, 86, of Madison

MADISON — Evelyn Hegdahl, 86, of Madison, formerly of Howard, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at bethel Lutheran Home in Madison.

Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Belleview Lutheran Church, Howard. Burial will be in Belleview Lutheran Church Cemetery, Howard, with the Rev. Rick Senner officiating. Visitation will begin on Friday at noon with the family present to greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Willoughby Funeral Home, Howard.

Evelyn Lorraine Alfson was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Madison, to Ingebrit and Regina (Verlo) Alfson. She graduated from Rutland High School. On Dec. 8, 1945, she married Harold B. Hegdahl in Lake County. After her husband died of cancer, she worked for Howard elementary school as a secretary for 25 years.

She was a longtime member of the Belleview Lutheran Church and Women’s Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; four brothers, William, Robert, Olger and Claude; four sisters, Eva Thoreson, Garnet King, Lorraine Alfson, Imogene Dahl; and one granddaughter.

She is survived by a daughter, Pat (Gre) Genzlinger of Winner; two sons, Mike (Dawn) Hegdahl of Littleton, Colo.; Garry (Connie) Hegdahl of Howard; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Doris Alfson of Hartford; Edna Jean Alfson of Volga and Deloris

Alfson of Madison; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
