Huron PD investigating casino burglary

Posted: Monday, Oct 28th, 2013

HURON ó Police are seeking the publicís help as they look for suspects who burglarized Happy Jacks Casino in the 1600 block of Dakota Avenue South early Friday morning.

Sgt. Brandon Neitzert, public information officer, said officers were notified of an active intruder alarm at 3:54 a.m. The first officer arrived on scene within 60 seconds of the report, finding the rear door unsecured with no signs of forced entry.

A small black Sentry digital safe, containing nearly $15,000, was taken from the office. After reviewing the surveillance camera footage, it appears that two male suspects entered the rear door of the business and proceeded directly for the safe, carrying it back out the rear exit. The suspects stayed inside the casino for less than 60 seconds.

Both suspects are described as male, medium build, wearing blue jeans and dark hooded sweatshirts covering their heads and faces.

Photos can bee seen on the Huron Police Department Facebook page. Due to the infrared camera footage, the image colors are distorted making dark colors appear lighter.

Police are working with security video footage and are requesting any public assistance in attempting to identify the suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Huron Police Department at 353-8550. Callers wishing to leave an anonymous tip may contact Huron Area Crimestoppers at 353-8555. A reward may be offered for information leading to an arrest.
