FORESTBURG — Top-seeded Arlington emerged with the Region 3B title and the berth in the Class B state tournament which came with it on Tuesday against Sanborn Central-Woonsocket.

Arlington, which entered the match with just one loss on the season, used set scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-12 to record the sweep.

Despite suffering the setback, Sanborn Central-Woonsocket coach Rick Olsen was pleased with the effort put forth by his team.

“The girls played hard,” Olsen said. “Arlington is a great team and Samantha Boeck is an awesome player. They have a lot of talent.”

The Lady Blackhawks stayed close during the first two sets, but Arlington pulled away at the end to secure the victory.

“I am very proud of our team and they way they fought, especially in the first two sets,” Olsen said.

Arlington advances to the Class B State Tournament, which is scheduled Nov. 21-23 at Huron Arena.

Statistics from the match were not available at press time.
