REDFIELD ó Mary O. Berg, 94, of Redfield, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Community Memorial Hospital in Redfield.
Burial Mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernardís Catholic Church in Redfield.
The Rev. Christopher Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bernardís Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Thelen Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church.
Mary Angela Olding was born on Dec. 18, 1919, to Raymond and Lula (Cole) Olding in Aberdeen. She attended high school in Redfield and attended St. Lukeís School of Nursing in Aberdeen, graduating as a registered nurse in 1941.
She married Carl G. Berg in 1946 in Burbank, Calif. She worked as a nurse at the Medical Arts Clinic of Dr. E. J. Perry until itís closing. She then went to work as a nurse at Redfield Developmental Center for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Bernardís Parish and altar society, Catholic Daughters of America, Gray Ladies and American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered at Golden Living Center, Lakeside Assisted Living and as a nurse for the Special Olympics for many years.
She enjoyed baking homemade rolls, breads and cookies and planting flowers.
She is survived by her two sons, Thom (Connie) Berg of Aberdeen and Bruce (Julie) Berg of Redfield; eight grandkids and 10 great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1978; and three brothers, Tommy, Raymond and A.I. Olding; and one grandson.
