ALPENA — Carol Ann Wieting, 71, of Alpena and Woonsocket, died on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Hilltop Estates in Gotherburg, Neb.
Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the St. Wilfrid’s Catholic Church, Woonsocket. Burial will be in the Eventide cemetery. Visitations will be at Basham Funeral Home, Woonsocket from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Carol Ann Wieting was born on Dec. 16, 1942, to John and Pearl (La Fountian) Brien, in Helena, Mont.
She married David Schopen on Oct. 31, 1959, at the age of 16. After later divorcing, she married Elroy Wieting on Feb. 15, 1975.
She enjoyed playing Bingo.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Donnie) Jemming, Chad (Kerry) Wieting of Woonsocket, Steve Schopen of Sioux Falls, Kristine (Jason) Wieting of Shelly, Idaho, Teresa (Gary) Ehrisman of Pierre, John (Jodi) Schopen of Bennington, Neb. and Troy Schopen of Moorhead N.D.; sisters, Nancy Parmenter, Gothernburg, Neb., Ivy (Clarence) Avis and Cindy (Scott) Kelly of Rushville, Nebraska; brothers, Bob Shoop of Gordan, Neb., Phil Shoop of Neb.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy; and two brothers, Joe and Larry.
